How to buy a ticket
- Purchase tickets online and save! Tickets can be purchased online up until 1 hour before departure.
- Purchase tickets at either our Port Alberni or Tofino Depot.
- Call our reservation line at 1-866-986-3466. Visa/Mastercard needed for purchase.
- Purchase tickets from any Greyhound agent - Greyhound fare rules apply. We accept all valid Greyhound tickets.
- Purchase a ticket for someone else. If boarding in Victoria or in Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Ucluelet or Tofino you can purchase a ticket for someone else online at www.tofinobus.com, by phoning our reservation line 1.866.986.3466 or at our Port Alberni or Tofino Depot. If boarding at any other location a Greyhound Pre-Paid Ticker Order will have to be purchased.
Changing your reservation and Refunds
- Tickets purchased online: Changing your reservation is free however you must change your reserved departure at least (1) hour before your original reservation departs. To do this you simply sign in to your online account, go to trip detail, cancel the trip, rebook for the schedule you want, select use my credits to offset the fare and voila you're ready to go. Canceling a trip does not refund your credit card. Equal value is credited to your account for future travel.
- If you purchased your ticket by phone you will have to phone the reservation line 1.866.986.3466 to change your reservation.
- If you purchased your ticket in the Tofino or Port Alberni depot you will have to change your ticket in person at the Issuing Depot.
Refunds
All Tofino Bus tickets can be refunded less 20%. To receive a refund for an online ticket or phone reservation ticket you must call our Reservation line at 1.866.986.3466 before your reserved schedule departs. Online tickets and phone reservations cannot be refunded after the reserved departure has expired. Tickets purchased in our Tofino or Port Alberni depots can be refunded up to 7 days after the reserved departure.

Baggage Policy
If you are travelling with a Tofino Bus passenger ticket the following rules apply. If you are travelling with a Greyhound ticket, Greyhound baggage rules apply.
Tofino Bus Services Inc. requires that you transfer your own luggage at bus change points.
Baggage liability. Tofino Bus Services Inc. accepts no responsibility for lost/damaged or stolen baggage. If insurance is required for any baggage then in must be shipped as Greyhound Freight and applicable fee's apply.
Tofino Bus Services Inc. baggage restrictions:

All carry-on bags are required to fit under the seat or in the overhead compartment and may not exceed nine (9) inches high by sixteen (16) inches wide by twenty (20) inches in length. A single piece of checked baggage must not exceed the following size: 24 inches by 24 inches by 45 inches (24" x 24" x 45"). Exceptions to this size limit include the following items: Skis and Ski Poles must be packed in wood, canvas or other substantial container, and securely fastened. Snowboards, Surfboards a maximum in 8 feet in length (note if you are transferring onto a Greyhound bus their max length is 7 feet), wheelchairs and infant paraphernalia including car seats and strollers are also accepted."When carrying two pieces of luggage, they may not exceed fifty (50) pounds per bag or will be subject to overweight baggage charges. When carrying one piece, it may not exceed seventy-five (75) pounds. (less)
Excess baggage:
If you are travelling with more than (2) pieces of luggage and (1) carry-on bag then excess baggage fee's apply: $5 per extra bag. (more info)
Excess baggage is over (2) pieces and (1) carry-on bag, to a maximum of 5 additional pieces, for a total of 8 checked pieces (per passenger). Charges will be applied for each excess bag as follows: $5 per bag. Price includes GST. Please ask agent for details. (less)
Surfboards are welcome free of charge. Surfboards must be less than 8ft. in length and must be packaged properly. Tofino Bus Services Inc. is not liable for any damage that may occur while shipping or transporting your surfboard.
Bicycles must be reserved 1.866.986.3466. Tofino Bus can take (1) unpackaged bike per schedule with a reservation. All unpackaged bikes must be reserved.

If there is already a bike reserved on the date of travel you require we can accept bicycles that are in boxes. Boxed bikes can travel unreserved. Bike boxes are usually available in the Port Alberni and Tofino depot's for $5. If you are travelling onto a Greyhound bus all bikes must be shipped as freight.(less)
Acceptable Types of Baggage

In general, acceptable baggage includes suitcases, duffel bags, toolboxes, trunks, backpacks and securely tied cardboard boxes. A plastic and/or a paper bag are not acceptable as checked baggage. (less)
Prohibited Items for Checked Baggage (more info)
Acids, ammunition, animals, batteries containing liquid acids, bicycles (unless reserved or in a box), combustible liquids, compressed gases, electronic equipment, explosives, film, firearms of all types, fireworks, flammable liquids, fruit, furniture, hazardous materials (poisons, radioactive materials, etc.), materials with a disagreeable odor, matches, merchandise for resale, perishable items, poisons, protruding articles, radioactive materials, or any unsecured articles including those in plastic or paper bags are prohibited. Items such as money and prescription medication may not be checked as baggage and are to be carried in the customer's possession. Laptop computers are considered "electronic items" prohibited for checked baggage. However, laptops may be brought aboard as your carryon luggage (one carry-on allowed per passenger ticket).

Overweight Baggage (more info)
The "no charge" allowance for baggage is restricted to baggage weighing fifty (50) pounds or less. The customer, through Greyhound Courier Express, will ship baggage over 75 pounds per bag. Baggage between 50 and 75 pounds are subject to the charges. Charges will be applied for each overweight bag as follows: $10 per overweight bag.(less)
Pets?
Pets are not allowed on board our buses or underneath in the luggage bays. The only exception: certified guide dogs.
Passenger rules while on board
For everyone's safety and comfort, Tofino Bus asks that customers please follow certain restrictions while on board. Federal law does not permit smoking on any public bus. We have a zero tolerance for alcohol, drugs, weapons and unruly behavior.
Drivers and Depot Staff reserve the right to refuse service and boarding.

Unaccompanied Children
Unaccompanied Children must have their tickets purchased by the Parent/Guardian or Custodian in person at the departing bus depot. Unaccompanied Children will be ticketed with a Greyhound ticket and the following Greyhound rules apply.
Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by someone age 15 years or older. An unaccompanied child is a passenger between the ages of eight and 14 years old (inclusive, NO EXCEPTIONS) and may travel unaccompanied if the following conditions are met in their entirety: (more info)
The Unaccompanied child is not allowed to transfer buses except if doing so at the Port Alberni Bus Depot. The trip must begin and terminate on the same schedule. NO EXCEPTIONS. Unaccompanied minors must have an Unaccompanied Child Form completed for them. An Unaccompanied Child Form must be filled in for each direction of travel (round trip would require two completed forms). The child must be met at the destination station by the person specified on the Unaccompanied Child Form. If two or more children between the ages of eight and 14 are travelling together (without a passenger 15 years of age or older) each child must have a completed Unaccompanied Child Form. Whenever possible, travel should be during daylight hours. Under no circumstances should any child be bumped on any trip. This also includes bumping the child onto an overload.
The destination terminal/agency must be open upon arrival. The schedule trip should not exceed six (6) hours in duration. The unaccompanied child and the parent/guardian should be at the terminal at least 40 minutes before departure. A fee of $5.00 plus tax will be assessed for each child traveling unaccompanied. All unaccompanied children travel as individuals and will be charged the student fare. Please note that this also applies when two or more unaccompanied children travel together.
No other discount fares apply.
Review Before You Purchase
Please read and ensure that the child and the parent/guardian understand all guidelines to ensure a safe and pleasant journey. Parents are asked to read and review the following guidelines with the child.
The child understands that:
- You are to remain seated at all times (except for use of the washroom) when the bus is moving.
- You are not to leave the bus without the driver's permission.
- You are to tell the driver immediately if anyone or anything is bothering you or if you need some help.
- You are to follow all of the driver's instructions when stopping for schedules, breaks or when the driver must help to load or unload other passengers, baggage and freight.
- Once you have arrived, DO NOT get off the bus until all the other passengers have left. Then, wait for the driver to escort you into the terminal.
The parent understands that:
- You are to confirm that you have arranged for the child to be met on arrival by the person(s) named on the Unaccompanied Child Form.
- Should the child not be met at the destination, as stated, any Greyhound Canada employee or agent is authorized to take whatever action they consider necessary to arrange for the child's custody and the parent agrees to reimburse Greyhound Canada for any necessary and reasonable costs incurred by them in taking such action.
- You are to certify that the child mentioned on the Unaccompanied Child Form is of sound health, does not require any medication or have any medical or physical condition which could create an emergency situation or require special attention.
- You are to certify that your child understands and will follow his/her responsibilities outlined above.
- You request the unaccompanied carriage of the child.
- You certify that the unaccompanied child is between the ages of eight and 14 (inclusive) and can produce identification to verify the child's age if requested by Greyhound Canada.

Baggage rules if travelling with a Greyhound ticket
The following are general rules regarding baggage carried on Greyhound or a connecting carrier. When travelling with a Greyhound ticket the following rules apply.

Baggage Defined: All baggage transported in baggage service must be in a container that can withstand handling and piling that occurs during transportation. This is to protect its contents, and to make sure that it will not damage other property. It must be securely closed / locked, strapped, roped or tied and must have a handle or other way to attach a Baggage Claim Check. Baggage not in containers will be accepted providing that it can withstand handling and piling without damage to itself or other property. Baggage can be either personal or sample baggage. Personal baggage includes clothing, toiletries (except liquids in glass containers) and similar personal effects. These items are for the wear, use, comfort and convenience of the passenger or purpose of the journey.
Personal baggage does not include items intended for sale. No prohibited items will be permitted in baggage service. (For a list of prohibited items, see above.) Sample baggage includes property for the commercial use of the passenger, such as catalogues, models, samples of goods, wares or merchandise. These items are for use by the passenger in making sales, or other disposition of the goods.
Fragile Items: Fragile items must be wrapped in bubble-plastic, packed in Styrofoam (molded, pellets, or sheets), or in placed cardboard containers with corrugated partitions to prevent damage to the fragile item. Clothing, bedding material, newspaper is not considered adequate protection for fragile items. All baggage must be properly identified with the name and address to which the bag may be sent in the event of a loss. The owner's complete name and address must be inside.
Identification of Baggage: All baggage must be properly identified with the name and address to which the bag may be sent in the event of a loss. The owner's complete name and address must be inside. Baggage tags are colour coded as follows: Ontario (pink); Manitoba (green); Saskatchewan (blue); Alberta (yellow); British Columbia (white); Quebec (orange). The last eastern stop for Greyhound is Montreal, QC.
Checking of Baggage: A baggage check will be attached to each piece of baggage with a receipt (claim portion of the baggage check) given to the passenger. Baggage will be checked at coachside.
Bicycles in Baggage Service: Bicycles are always considered freight and must be boxed. Bicycle boxes are available from Greyhound Courier Express at selected terminals for $10 each (plus GST). The bike will be shipped as freight. You will be charged the weight of the bike, plus 40 percent oversize charge and GST.
The bike will travel on the same bus as the passenger only if space allows. (For en extra $3.00 the shipper can request a "Travels With Passenger" form. This means the bike will travel on the same schedule as the passenger.)
Bicycles are carried unboxed on the following routes, subject to space, and no "Travel With" charge is applied:
Vancouver - Whistler ($10 charge)
Vancouver - Squamish/Garibaldi ($5 charge)
Property Carried at Owner's Risk: The following items may be transported as "Property Carried At Owner's Risk: Articles of extraordinary value, articles other than baggage contained in cartons, business machines, cassette/CD players, cassettes/CDs, cameras, computers, laptops, or typewriters, foodstuffs, fragile articles, jewelry/watches, liquids, meat, musical instruments, radios, receptacles that are not in good order or lack sufficient strength to withstand normal handling, receptacles with articles attached or protruding, sewing machines, tricycles, valuable papers (including manuscripts, irreplaceable publications, documents, etc.).
Baggage Liability: Carriers will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to baggage in excess of the value allowances. Carrier will only be responsible to the extent of the actual loss or damage sustained based on the actual baggage at the time and place of checking. The maximum liability on each passenger ticket does not exceed $100. Any pieces with a declared value greater than $100 must be shipped through GCX. Passengers may insure their baggage with Greyhound up to a maximum of $10000 per passenger ticket in our Courier Express Service, insurance requests of $1000 or higher require authorization process. In no event will the liability exceed the actual value of the baggage at the place and time of checking.
No carrier will accept responsibility for damage, breakage, deterioration, delay and/or loss of any prohibited article or any article not specifically defined as acceptable in baggage service nor for damage, breakage, deterioration, delay, and/or loss caused by such unauthorized articles to other baggage belonging to the same passenger. Carriers will NOT accept any liability for unchecked baggage. Except as responsibility may be imposed by law, carriers will not be liable for delays caused by accidents, breakdowns, bad conditions of the road, storms and other conditions beyond the carriers' control, and the delivery of baggage under instructions of the passenger, baggage owner or representative to a non-agency destination or at an agency point that does not accept incoming baggage, after such property has been left at such station or non-agency destination.
Baggage Claims: A claim for loss of or damage to baggage will not be voluntarily paid by a carrier unless filed in writing within 30 days from the time the passenger arrived at the destination to which the baggage was checked. Carriers will make immediate and diligent efforts to recover lost checked baggage. If the lost checked baggage cannot be located a claim should then be initiated. The date the tracing form was received by the carrier or carrier's agent will be considered as the first day commencing a 60-day period before which a claim will be settled. All claims for lost baggage will be settled within 90 days from date carrier received tracing form either by firm offer or denial. Greyhound will acknowledge claim, in writing, within 30 days of receipt.

If your baggage is missing, report this to a Greyhound representative promptly. The representative will initiate a trace and keep you informed on the results. When the baggage has been located, the passenger will be notified immediately. Please note: Greyhound Canada will make every effort to assist in locating passenger baggage, however, Greyhound will not be liable for baggage which has not been properly tagged to the passenger's destination, for articles missing from inside an unlocked receptacle or property which was in the passenger's possession.
In the event that baggage cannot be located, a claim form may be obtained from most Greyhound agencies, terminals or from National Customer Service at 1-877-GO-DOG-GO (1-877-463-6446).
